NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF GROUND CONDITION EFFECTS ON STRUCTURE RESPONSE TO EARTHQUAKE LOADING

【Abstract】

<正>The effect of earthquake forces on structures is essential in safe and economic design.To determine these forces,the response acceleration spectra are used. These spectra however are influenced by the soil and structure conditions.The previous researches have shown that the characteristics of earthquake such as frequency content,period,amplitude,etc.have great effects on the spectrum.The effect of ground condition,on the other hand is equally important on the behavior of structures under earthquake loading.In this paper,the effects of some parameters such as shear strength parameters of foundation soil,compaction of foundation soil, height of structure and embedment depth of foundation on structure response to earthquake loading have been investigated using finite element modeling and the relative importance of each parameter is highlighted
