【Abstract】

<正>A series of normal and oblique penetration experiments with varying impact conditions were performed. There are five different structural failure modes for a slender hollow projectile penetrating a typical hard target. The penetration model was established based on spherical expansion theory. It shows good agreement between the rigid-projectile penetration data and model.Numerical simulations were performed with LS-DYNA to analyze the details of the penetrator-target interaction. The penetrator bending for oblique impact is an important process and thus the numerical analysis is extended to a detailed evaluation of bending moments, shear forces and normal force along the penetrator cross section. The comparison of experiment and simulation provides information about the different structural failure mechanisms of the penetrators.
