<正>A series of normal and oblique penetration experiments with varying impact conditions were performed.There are five different structural failure modes for a slender hollow projectile penetrating a typical hard target.The penetration model was established based on spherical expansion theory.It shows good agreement between the rigid-projectile penetration data and model.Numerical simulations were performed with LS-DYNA to analyze the details of the penetrator-target interaction. The penetrator bending for oblique impact is an important process and thus the numerical analysis is extended to a detailed evaluation of bending moments,shear forces and normal force along the penetrator cross section.The comparison of experiment and simulation provides information about the different structural failure mechanisms of the penetrators.
