ACTIVE/PASSIVE CONTROL OF CYLINDRICAL SHELLS USING ACTIVE CONSTRAINED LAYER DAMPING

【Abstract】

<正>Extensive efforts have been made to reduce the vibration of cylindrical shells using either passive or active control means.Unconstrained passive damping treatments were studied as a means for suppressing axi-symmetric vibration of thin cylindrical shells.In order to attain high damping characteristics,passive constrained layer damping(PCLD)treatments have been successfully employed to various types of cylindrical and conical shells.The performance of PCLD treatment is achieved at the expense of adding considerable weight to the vibrating structure.More recently,several attempts have been made to reduce the vibration in shells by pure active control techniques and hybrid passive/active techniques,such as the active constrained layer damping (ACLD)treatment.In specially,active/passive hybrid techniques based on ACLD demonstrate potential applications in engineering due to the attributes of both passive and active damping employed together.
