<正>Aimed to support a new structure of a deployable antenna, we give a conceptual design of an inflatable torus. First a small inner pressure and out forces are supplied to make an ideal torus to be deformed to represent the initial status. Then a certain inner pressure is supplied to inflate the pendulous torus to desired shape. In order to get the proper parameters for a reasonable design, an optimization analyse is carried out. We set the root mean square (RMS) error of the inflatable torus to the ideal torus as the object of the optimization analyse, the inner pressure and the thickness of the torus as the design variables. Through a first order optimization method (FOOM) as in the ANSYS software, optimization result is got. Such a result is reasonable compared with the testing result of an inflatable torus with a diameter of 1.8 m in an available literature. Through the optimization analyse, it reveals that such an inflatable torus can satisfy the conceptual design targets of lightweight, low inner pressure and desired shape precision.
