Effects of Seed Crystals on Hydration Properties of Cement

【Abstract】

<正>In hydration process of cement,Seed crystals can provide the nuclear matrix and reduce the hydrate nucleation barrier,so it can induce the hydrate to generate.In the present work,the seed crystals of different water cement ratio and different hydration degree was made by using Portland cement.Then the effects of induction of different seed crystals to hydration properties of cement were studied by testing hydration rate and strength of cement.The results showed the seed crystals can induce the hydrate to generate,increase the hydration rate and strength.Adding about 4 wt%seed crystals made with water cement ratio 0.28 and curing for 56 days into cement,the 3days' compressive and flexural strength of cement mortar were increased by 13.63%and 45.26%,7days' strength by 10.29%and 17.23%and 28days' strength by 13.83%and 23.03%. Originality The effects of induction of different seed crystals to the hydration properties of cement were studied through testing hydration rate and strength of cement in the present work. This is a kind of innovative idea.Because the cement hydration is a process that hydrate crystallized,seed crystals can provide the nuclear matrix and reduce the nucleation barrier for the hydrates of Portland cement,so that the hydrates is easy to generate and the cement hydration is easy to conduct.The effects of seed crystals with different water cement ratio and different hydration degree to the hydration cement properties were different because of their different composition.So we add the seed crystals into Portland cement determine the best content of seed crystals through testing hydration rate and strength of cement and study the rules of induction of seed crystals on hydration properties of cement.
