Microstructure of Hardened Cement Compacts with Ultra Low Water to Cement Ratio

【Abstract】

<正>This paper reports nanostructure of the hydrated Portland cement with ultra low water to cement ratio(W/C).A group of hardened cement compacts with different W/C was prepared by a method named compact-capillary absorption;bound water was measured to characterize hydration degree of the cement in the compacts;nanostructure of the compacts was investigated by Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry(MIP) and Synchrotron Small Angel X-Ray Scattering(Synchrotron SAXS).The results show more hydration products are produced with increase of W/C.However,denser inner hydration products make outer pores less fill.Efficient fill of outer pores with hydration products decreases with increase of water to cement ratio.Nanostructure of the hardened compacts with ultra low W/C is looser than that pastes prepared by mixing of cement with W/C of 0.28. Ultra low W/C has detrimental effects on close pack of hydration products. Originality Nanostructure of hardened cement compacts with ultra low water to cement ratio is described.A meachanism of ultra low water to cement ratio having detrimental effects on close pack of hydration products as an originality is clarified
