Effects of Polycarboxylate Superplasticizers on the Hydration Process of C_3A

【Abstract】

<正>C_3A is one important phase of cement and is considered influencing greatly the effect of superplasticter in concerete.In this paper C_3A was prepared by sol-gel method and solid state reaction respectively.The crystal morphology and hydration process of C_3A were investigated via X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),conduction calorimetry and scanning electron mocroscopy(SEM).The effect of pofycarboxylate superplasticezers (PC) on the hydration process of C_3A were discussed The results show that comparing with synthesised by solid state reaction,C_3A prepared by sol-gel method is of more crystal defects,smaller particle see and higher reactivity.During the hydration process of C_3A,the addition of PC can accelate the dissolution of C_3A and promote the precipitation of hydrate C_3AH_6.The competitive adsorption between PC and sulphate on the surface of ettringite(AFt) lead to the fracture of AFt layer and inhibiting the growth of AFt crystals,promoting the formation of monosulfoaluminate(AFm). Originality The C3A was prepared by two methods,one method was solid state reaction that is traditional method as clinker formation;the another was sol-gel method that is soft method used generally to prepare the advanced materials with low temperature. Comparing with the C_3A prepared by solid state reaction,C_3A prepare by sol-gel method is of more crystal defects and higher reactivity investeged by XRD,conduction calorimety and SEM.In order to clearing the reaction between C_3A and superplastisker, pofycarboxylate superplasticter were chosen and the effect on the hydration process of C_3A were discussed.It is found that the addition of PC can accelate the dissolution of C_3A and promote the precipitation of hydrate C_3AH_6.The competitive adsorption between PC and sulphate on the surface of ettringite(AFt) lead to the fracture of AFt layer and inhibiting the growth of AFt crystals,promoting the formation of monosulfoaluminate(AFm).
