Enhancement of Naproxen solubility by polymeric coating (Emulsion Solvent Diffusion (ESD) Method)

Purpose:To enhance the solubility and dissolution rate of Naproxen by Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose as a biodegradable polymer.Method:the micro-encapsulation is the most effective way to coat drug’s particles to get the optimum effects of drug influence.In this work ,ESD method is used which is one of the chemical ways to coat drugs and microspheres.In ESD method (Emulsion Solvent Diffusion) the pure Naproxen and agglomerate are characterized in terms of production yield,solubility ,in vitro release profile [v] ,X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy(FTIR).Result:comparing the solubility of pure Naproxen and agglomerate indicated that Naproxen+ HPMC has higher solubility than the pure Naproxen.X-ray pattern and FTIR revealed that there were no chemical changes in the agglomerate compared with the pure drug.
