A novel multivariate-phase carboxylate salt(MPC) was prepared by free radical polymerization from maleic anhydride, 1-Acrylanmido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid and acrylic acid. Influences of MPC on concrete proporties under sulfate envirnment were investigated, including mechanical performance and volume deformation of mortar. Test results show that, MPC has no negative effect on strength and shrinkage of mortar. Strength loss and crystalline expansion of mortar under static solution soaking and wet-dry cycles condition is well inhibited by MPC. MPC exhibits excellent sulfate attack resistance ability.
