【Abstract】

<正> Introduction The studies of 3d elements at high pressures haveattracted special interest because of the structuralphase transition,magnetism and its existence inEarth's core.For titanium,Ti,the hcp(α)phase isstable at ambient conditions.The theoretical analysisby Gyanchandani et al.[1]has been predicted that theα phase transforms to the bcc(β)phase at 52-75 GPavia the hexagonal(ω)phase as a result of the s-dtransition.However,the previous x-ray study by Xiaet al.[2]has reported that ω-Ti is till stable atpressure up to 87 GPa while the α-ω transitionoccurs at 2 GPa. In this study,the structural phase transition oftitanium has been investigated up to 220 GPa at roomtemperature by high- pressure x-ray diffraction
