<正>The rotating crack model(RCM)lends itself to a relatively simple implementation.It is therefore of interest to evaluate its simulation capabilities.In the present article,the following aspects are investigated: capability of the RCM to simulate modeⅠ,modeⅡand mixed mode cracking, capability of the RCM to simulate failure over a large range of structural sizes, capability of the RCM to simulate crack propagation under multiaxial stress state. The rotating crack model is briefly presented first.Attention is drawn on parasitic shear transfer across the crack. The main simulation results,compared with analytical or experimental solutions,are summarized.
