<正>1 INTRODUCTION Reinforcement of rock slopes is a common practice in both civil and mining applications. The reinforcement methods employed are generally based on the fundamental mechanics although the design goals may differ. These differences are reflected largely by the required longevity of the design. Civil applications often require design lives of 50 to 100 years whereas mining applications can be anywhere from a few weeks to a decade or more. The difference in the designed lifespan can greatly affect the chosen reinforcement scheme.
