<正>There is now convincing evidence that blood pressure (BP) variability (BPV) is an independent cardiovascular risk factor that should be considered as such and, therefore, might become an important target for therapeutic interventions. A proper evaluation of all components of BPV requires that continuous measurements of BP be obtained in conscious subjects, either intra-arterially in animals or by means of finger photoplethysmography in humans.
