<正>Experiments have been conducted in a conventional two-phase pass-through test section to measure the evaporative heat transfer coefficient of R134a with and without silica nanoparticles. For nanoparticle volume fractions of 0.5%and 0.05%,the heat transfer coefficient decreased in comparison to pure R134a.Systematic dispersion experiments in a test tube indicate that particles with a hydrophobic surface coating are most promising for refrigerant-based nanofiuids.Adding a small fraction of compressor oils had an insignificant effect on particle dispersion in refrigerants. The possible causes of the boiling heat transfer degradation are formation of nanoparticle film on boiling surface, increased viscosity, and moderate quality of particle dispersion.
