<正>Yield behavior of a coated sphere loaded by a rigid flat at point contact is experimentally studied. Ion beam assisted deposition is used to prepare coatings of different thickness and different composition on a sphere.A device for studying the relationship between load and deformation is set up based on the distance measurement with optical fibers.The curve between load and deformation of the sphere with coatings of different thickness and composition is obtained and the residual deformation is analyzed based on the curve. According to the results,the yield behavior of a coated sphere loaded by a rigid flat is influenced by both the thickness and the mechanical properties of the coatings.
