Research and Design a Streaming Media VOD System Based on Scalable Video Coding

A novel stream media VOD system based on scalable video coding (SVC) has been designed in this paper. We firstly analyzed the performance of streaming media VOD system of Shanghai Ocean University and found that there are some deficiencies in the original streaming media VOD system as well. Then we study the SVC technology and design a new VOD system based on SVC in order to improve the drawbacks of the original system. Experiment results show that the proposed method can provide better performance.
